Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

A completely new lamp is being launched on the 2nd Nov.

Can't link the picture sorry. Won't let me.

But looks die cast, and possibly looking at the curvature it might be taking an astro bottle.

And first 100 out the window. Now a lottery of all the orders placed on the same day. Seems irrelevant to still call it first 100 when it isn't.

What are your thoughts on what it might be?

the issue with longer lasting ones is probably that they tend to be taller, which would move the flame a lot closer to the bottle.

I thought these lamps were supposed to work with any tealight candle, preference to the four hours ones as stated on their details. Tealights vary so much even from batch to batch, it seems like a heck of a lot of faffing around to need to work out which candles are best.

Yes I thought that, plus they would burn for longer than the recommended time that you are advised to run the lamp.

This thing is well dangerous. I've measured the width between the flame and the base of the bottle and even trimmed back this is a disaster waiting to happen.

Someone at M needs a lesson in how to make things properly. How on God's earth has this passed safety standards?

Flames and cold glass do not mix.

Extremely dangerous. Mine is being boxed up and not used until I can be rest assured that its totally safe to use.

These bottles need to be made of Pyrex to be able use this correctly. Not standard glass.

Surely they must make the glass out of pyrex type glass already though? I cannot be standard glass, can it? If it is standard glass it's going to end up in a product recall.

No, standard Lava Lamp bottles are made from soda lime glass. Pyrex is borosilicate glass. Basically made to be super tough and heat resistant. That's why you can cook with it.

Normal glass is not suitable for the evo lamp. I think fireflows and pods are OK because there is a bigger gap between bottle and candle. Evo has too small a gap. The metal part needs to be made taller to make it safer to use.

Watch the fire storm evolve.

Just out of interest, has anyone been “ invited “ to leave a feefo review for this lamp? I used to get the email soon after items were delivered, however not a peep on this occasion.

They are probably too busy recalling them all.

I was wondering the same, I haven’t had an invite to review either. Looks like some people have however. I wonder how targeted these review invites are.
