any ideas as to where i could find a CRESTWOOD GALAXY FIBRE OPTIC LAMP?

i really want one of these, but they go for silly money on ebay, and i can't afford it...
nfortunately, in my google searches, however, i always come across results from auction houses etc, where they have sold for only £40 or so, but i only find them after the fact...

sad thing is, we are leaving the uk in a few months to go back to australia, and i doubt i'll find one there:(

has any one got any good ideas of places to look???

cheers!

Only place is eBay and they are hot sellers. There might be an occasional person that does not realize what he/she may have and will list the item with a buy it now - however - that is rare.
your site is astounding!!! not small
Good luck finding the Crestworth Galaxy. They do pop up on ebay occasionally and you can get a bargain if you're lucky. The ones with their original perspex stand tend to go for about 30 or 40 pounds more as they are much rarer.

A boxed example with stand went for 170 pounds very recently, a really nice example.
hi jerome... yes i watched that one on ebay too :(

would you be tempted to swap one of your galaxy fibre optic lamps for the opal fluidium???
Yes a very tempting offer, I shall need to think about that one. The one I could swap doesn't have the stand though and has quite a bad scratch along the top of the perspex. Not too noticable when the lamp is displayed though.
Hiya Ant, you found an opal fluidium? do tell more. What a result and do you want to sell it?
i was reading a thread on here about an opal fluidium that went for £3oo something pounds@@@!!!

is that for real`???
what is wrong with people paying that?
when we bought ours in australia, it originally cost $150,ish...it is the type with the glass shield and the colour boosting bulbs, infact, i am kicking myself we didn't keep he boxes now!
well, thanks to anthony, from flow of lava, i found one!

in lovely condition ,with the instructions, but no box or stand, and i paid £100 for it.
unfortunately ,the glass colour changing disc was snapped in half ,which we discovered when we opened it up, but i doubt the elderley couple were aware of that, as they had had it carefully stored in their loft for almost 20 years!

i did a superglue repair job to it and reinforced it with a small disc of clear acetate, but i am keen to make some spare glass discs of my own, and colour them with glass paint, as i have read you can do, on here!
i wonder what would happen if i painted multicolour dots or stripes etc???
i will have a play!
the acrylic dome is shiny and has no obvious blemishes, unless you look closely, but for its age, it is fantastic!

i also read somewhere bout making a stand to the original spec, which my husband would like to do!
i'll have to search for that thread and see if i can find out a pattern for it!

also, the couple gave me a tabe that they used to display the lamp on.
it is a white plastic 60's table, in a square shape with rounded edges, and has a centre well in the middle with a disc covering it and was originally for putting ice and drinks in etc, but was the perfect dimensions for them to set the galaxy into.
it has yellowed from aging though ,so if anyone knows if it is possible to restore plastic to its original whiteness,i'd love to know...
they were going to put it out on the sidewalk if i didn't want it, but when i turned it upside down i saw that it was a hille robin day table!!!!
cool huh!!!

i feel so lucky having one of these galaxies!
they are the best!
