<p>I've have a couple of Vallauris lamps. In my opinion, the goo is junk. I't's very thin and sticky. The liquid smells really toxic.</p>
<p>I've had no luck restoring one.</p>
<p>I think, as you say, it's better to simply switch out the contents.</p>
<p>I'd love to get my hands on some new Mathmos globes, but the shipping cost to Canada is prohibitive.</p>
<p>You folks in the UK are lucky to have local access to Mathmos products.</p>
