Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have goo kitted 6 32oz lamps with great results untill I opened my new bottle of goo and tried to get the same results. I have followed Dr Whats tutorial to a tee but now Im having a issue when I turn it on and once it starts flowing and it looks good, then after about 3 hours of it running ,the lava tuns in to one big blob and dont flow or break in to smaller blobs. Also I do have it on a dimmer. Any ideas on what I can do or could it be possibly bad wax that I got from Magna Tower? Any suggestions please... Ilove my lava lamps!!  Thanks

Sounds like its not hot enough, I'd let it run without the dimmer or with it just turned on full blast.

Hey Thanks for the reply.. I thought goo kitted lamps need to be on a dimmer per there instructions??

Gookits do tend to get a little hot after being on for a long period of time and that's where a dimmer comes in handy. But its not necessary to have one for a gookit. I would just run it with the dimmer on full blast and when it starts to overheat, slowly tweak the dimmer down until you get the ideal flow you like and leave it be.

Thanks again DR.. Ill repost to let you know..

Your welcome let us know.

Just to let you know.. I have had the lamp on now for about 2 1/2 hrs with the dimmer being all the way off.. The flow is better but what i notice now is the blobs are slow.. will they speed up the longer it stays running?

they should, you said this is a 32 oz lamp correct? Give it about 4-5 hours to get true flow.

yes.. 32 oz.. Thanks again..

I have to tell you that the longer it runs, the blob only floats to the top, like stays there but when it finally does lower it doesnt revolve down in the coil and break up..Its like it only floats real dam slow.. Im getting inpatient..my other goo kitted lamps dont do this. what are the symptons of bad wax?

lots of bubbles usually is a symptom of bad wax.  let it run and break in.
