Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have put on a gold necklace and bracelet. But I am getting messages from dealers offereing to buy it now the biggest offer is £75 but don't want to be ripped off. Does anyone know if it is a good price or not? I am considering taking it off and taking it to a jeweller instead. would appreciate your opinions.

Leave it as is without a Buy it Now and don't do any deals from strangers making you offers. That is a good idea when selling stuff for which you don't know the value. Make sure that the auction title has all relevant keywords so that those who are willing to pay up for it can find it easily through ebay search. If you are getting a lot of offers for it, especially from dealers, then you might have something that is desirable and can go for more than you expect. Also, selling to dealers whether online or in the real world like a pawn shop will not get you the best price since they are buying to resell higher.
Thank you your ideas are helpful.

Hi Babynoggin,

Good luck with your sale - but as you say, don't get ripped off.

We've sold a lot of gold over the years and we've found that most dealers are pretty good.

BUT - they don't offer really good prices.

Firstly - the weight - 13 grams.

That should be worth, at scrap value, something like £137

Check the scrap values at http://dendritics.com/scales/metal-calc.asp?WeightU=13&Units=g&...

Most dealers will offer you something like 90% of scrap value - so around £123 - and they'll usually want you to chuck the postage in too.

We've found that you'll only do better than scrap value if the items are really nice - excellent condition and distinctive too - or if they're made by someone special.

If the items are used then scrap is the best you'll do.

Hope that helps, even if it's a bit downbeat!

Thank you that's great news I think I will see how it goes for a few days and withdraw the sale if needed.

Thank you got a deal I was happy with it went to a dealer who gave me a good price and I learnt a few lesson as well.
