Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi all - do most of you run dimmers?  I think I need/want one for at least one of my lamps now.  Any recommendations on dimmers that you like / dislike?

thanks!

I have to use them on my goo kits because a 40 watt and they just sit like a bowl of jello, lol!!  I run a 60 watter and dim them down after a few hours when I see them starting to form a lot of small globettes.  Same goes with my 32 ounce vintage blue swirl and enchantress......they run a 40 and I still say if a 40 runs a LL 52 oz it's too hot for a 32 ounce globe, but that's what is called for, so yep, I have a dimmer on those as well......here are the ones I like :

Awesome, thanks guys :)

Just every once in awhile feel your dimmer and make sure it isn't getting too warm.  One fellow OG member did say that he had a dimmer actually start to "melt" on him and thank god that he was home and was able to catch it.  That's why one should never leave their lamps lit when no one is home to supervise.  Best to err on the safe side.  I've used these dimmers one on one, but I have had 3 lamps on one in the past.  It warmed up a little but was able to handle the wattage.  It does defeat the purpose though because you can't really adjust the flow the right way when you have more then one lamp to a dimmer.  But again, which ever dimmer you decide to go with, just feel them every once in awhile to see if they are getting too hot.

I run my kits on 60 watter's Haze!  I use one of those lutron dimmers per lamp and they stay nice and cool, even on a 60 watter.

P.S.  Ace Hardware/True Value was out of the Lutron's so I tried an Ace Hardware brand dimmer which was a tad cheaper and that also works fine!!  The only thing is it is a tiny bit bigger then the Lutron, but it works fine, doesn't overheat and is cheaper then the name brands.

I picked up the Lutrons from Amazon for a pretty decent price:

thanks guys!

Not bad.  If you factor in shipping how does it come out?  I get mine at my local Ace Hardware store for around 13.99 per dimmer.  Now, the Ace brand I just picked up was 12.99.  Mine are white, but I'm kind of wishing I went with black.  The white are showing up every piece of dog hair, lol!!!

free shipping :)  (I have amazon prime)

aaahaaa....then GOO'D deal!!!  lol!!!

If your feeling handy, this vid tutorial (made by Lamphead) is also a great way to dim multiple lamps at once using a power strip and a dimmer you buy.
