Actual pH of a arterial blood gas, meaning oxygenated blood that has been through the lungs and just out of the heart to the rest of the body can be in a range of 7.35 to 7.45, which is acceptable, 7.40 being optimal. But our ph can change due to metabolic activities or pre existing medical conditions going on in the body. Seen pt's with blood ph of 6.9, but barely alive and as high as 7.65, lying there and breathing like they are running a race, these are extreme limits as the body does not function well at these ph levels. The body will of course try to compensate to get it back to 7.4 but goes into great stresses trying to do this. Thanks for sharing. That was a great read! It's interesting to know what makes a lava lamp - a lava lamp. Wonder what they changed.

It also explains why some of the cheap China lamps (knock offs) smell to high heaven of kerosene when I opened them.
