My red/clear grande arrived somewhat cloudy. I cycled it 8 hours on / 8 hours off for two or so weeks with no improvement. I left it off a couple months (not sure how long) and just the other day I noticed the liquid was fairly clear. I turned it on and it clouded up again once it got warm.

Let me stress... 2 weeks is NOT enough time. There is almost no cloudy lamp (of any size) that will clear in that amount of time, let alone a Grande. It requires patience, willingness to let them be as they are. Just like a crazy relative. Patience. It will take anywhere from 3-6 months. If you prefer other methods, (possibly expensive methods) that doesn't hurt my feelings, do what works.

I have tried the "cycle" thing many times, I have NEVER had a lamp clear up. I have run them for 2 weeks on a timer that runs them 5 hours on 2 hours off for 24 hours a day. I have tried several different patterns of time, never any better. Now I just toss it out and start over with a Goo Kit, it runs great and is super clear.

The point isn't to get them flowing, but to clear the water. They tend to clear quicker without a full flow. However, every lamp reacts a bit different; experiment, find what works for you, but I know the timer works. Maybe try 3-4 hours at a time. Come to think of it... I've only used this method on smaller lamps. Yes, you'll want more time with a grande.

Egnix said:…

The last time I received a cloudy grande a relative purchased it from direct glow on ebay and fedex did what they do best. Killed the fricken thing. It was not the sellers fault. The box was falling apart and I allready had the lamp to begin with. So I didn't even complain. I just said thank you but I do hope that in the near future they will release new grande colors.
