Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I bought a yellow/purple Grande from Amazon back in January.  It was cloudy, so I filtered it.  I used a carbon filter, and the dark purple water came out light purple.  Luckily, it still flowed fine.

I put it upstairs and forgot about it all these months.

Over the weekend, I noticed that the light purple was now clear!  The yellow/purple grande was now yellow/clear.

Messing with these lamps has its ups and downs, and sometimes a mistake turns into a pleasant surprise.  Here's my favorite mistake.  What's yours?

Love that "mistake," Kirk!   The clear/yellow is gorgeous!

Wish my Grande would do that.   Poor thing has been sitting outside all Summer trying to "fade."  Also my "near black" 32 oz. China Teal, which was "supposed" to be US made.

There's a lot of sun in the place it had been sitting for 5-6 months, Libby.  I really love it now.  It reminds me of the egg yolks. :>)  And the flow is un-China like with snakes and stretchy balls!

The condom broke.  :-(

just kidding... we don't have any kids

Sounds like that lovely clear/yellow I got from you for my black Starship, which I also got from you!!  LOL   I love the egg yolk color too!    I can't really tell if my Grande has faded any, but it appears that the yellow wax is looking a bit "brown" on top of it.  Is that something bad?   It only gets afternoon sun on the porch.

That was a yellow/blue Grande, right?  I wonder what a brown/clear looks like?  Don't answer that, Jim! LOL

Oh gosh, Kirk......you just left it wide open for "words of wisdom" from Jim......Hahahaha

Yep, it was a blue/yellow.   But a very "dark" blue, not cloudy, just way too dark.   Not too sure I'd enjoy a clear/brown Grande.....Yikes!!!

The idea for an outhouse lamp originated with Erin so I will let her provide direction on how to dye the master fluid yellow.

LOL, Jim!   Well, it would be "different and unique," and possibly bring back childhood memories, or more likely, nightmares of my Grandparents' outhouse in the Smokies!    ;-O   The fear of Black Widow Spiders bitin you on the rear!!!!

Cool!

You've got it backwards. Yellow liquid, brown lava. Duh.
