Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Anyone interested in a Johnson Industries swag-model rain lamp? Photos attached below. It's a mid-sized model; Johnson made smaller as well as larger ones.

All-metal, with an antique brass finish. When I got it, it was squeaky clean inside like it had never been used, as far as I could tell. Statue is a dark gilt finished Venus. Has the plastic plants (ivy) in the tray, and the outer edges of the top and bottom have an embossed decorative pattern. There are somewhat ornate cast finials on either end, and the top surface has some darkening to the brass and the remnants of a label.

Like most rain lamps, half of the monofilament lines are vertical and the other half are slanted; oil droplets go slowly/close together down the vertical ones and quickly/about an inch apart down the slanted ones. The lamp runs and is quiet, but it takes about 10-15 minutes to get flowing.

Has a very, VERY long chain and a long cord with a rotary switch. I believe the cord is patched in one spot. The whole lamp is somewhere around 28" tall and about 10" dia. Good for someone who wants a complete and functional rain lamp that doesn't require heavy cleaning or re-stringing.

Selling this for a friend and hoping to get $75, but I'll take offers. I put it on Craigslist but I only got scammers. ("I'm in Europe for the indefinite future. I'll pay you $300, and you can ship it to me, okay? But I can only pay by check. You'll ship it as soon as the check arrives, okay?" I can't make this stuff up!) Ask questions if you got 'em. Will ship without oil.

Take any trade?

Sorry but I can't trade, I'm selling this for a friend who needs money. He bought it through me years ago when I found it for sale in an antique store. I'd buy it but I'm really out of the rain lamp thing; I have the few I want to keep and the rest got sold.

I'm interested.  I have a disgusting rain lamp that I put in my attic and haven't touched since because it's so repulsive.  But I want a rain lamp.

Sure thing. Please email me at jcefoundit@gmail.com.

Hi Derek - do you still have that "disgusting rain lamp"?  Would you be interested in parting with it??  I'd be willing to try and restore it... I've been searching for one.

Is this lamp still available?

Yes, though I really don't want to ship it - that can be a mess.

Can you email me at findlidia@live.ca for discussion? :)  Interested in what your price would be - and what you mean by a 'mess'...
