Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So I got my paws on some perfect sized springs for the coil, and decided to replace the coil in one of my 52oz. Purple/Yellow lamps that the lava just sat in a ball unattached to the coil. MUCH BETTER!! With the exeception of the couple hours for it to warm up, popping the cap, fishing out the old, and dropping in the new one took all of 5 minutes. Made a nice "fishing pole" out of a metal coat hanger with a little hook on the end, and away we went!! Have turned it on a few times now since I replaced the coil, and it works like a charm!! Nice!! I just have a resealable wine stopper in the top right now to prevent everything from evaporating, hence why the cap sits higher than the others. For recapping, I'm going to use a small bead of waterproof, heat resistant epoxy and a quarter. Should I ever need to get back in there, I gently use some solvent and a thin blade to break the seal. I'm very pleased with how little effort it took to get it flowing properly, but NONE of us should have to tinker to make our toys work!! Like I always say, guess that's why the lamps are $25 instead of $80.

Just got my first goo kit last week to redo one of my grandes, chose the blue goo, and noticed the spring in the kit is rather stellar looking!! Can't wait to do it, just need a free afternoon!!
Well I dug up this post, but was looking for coil info. The China 20 ozers have really small coils, they don't even fit the entire bottom of the globe so now I know why my 20s don't flow at all, well some do when they feel like it. hehehe

as for the 52s I think the coil is the problem with my green/clear

sigh
is that company for real? I'm starting to wonder...
