I figured I'd add this. Haven't tried them yet. Going to put one in my pink kit as it insists on doing nothing but columning for hours unless I blast the heat up at full power 60 watt. It's a 52 oz. Bought these today.....hummmm....cross between the mt goo screen and a coil....like a coil screen.....wil it work???…

Hi there, just reading this thread for my first time. I purchased stainless mesh, similar (I am assuming) to what Goo Kit offers. I have used it successfully in a couple different ways. I am sorry I have no pictures...

1) Cut a strip of it, four or five mesh "rows" wide, then roll it up into a circle. Push that circle into the bottle, then use a couple shishkabob skewers to open back up. It's not that hard, unless you have hooves I suppose.

2) Cut a strip of it, four or five mesh "rows" wide, then fold it up into the shape of an arrow head, with two long sides and two short sides. Shove that into a bottle then use the aforementioned shishkabob skewers to make it the proper width.

I would still be using the mesh if I hadn't scored a lot of a hundred stainless springs on ebay. I stretch them out by hand, cut them in the middle, hook them onto themselves, and voila!

Both mesh and coils work fine. I will confirm that it needs to be stainless steel...
Do you have any that you can…tag:oozinggoo.ning.com,2011-12-18:1566398:Comment:3639532011-12-18T22:24:57.779ZErinhttps://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/erin9

Well, I was told that Mathmos used screen on the early Astro Flock models. But they changed back to coil because screen was giving bad flow.

A former member here did post pics of shaping the screen into a short, mostly flat cone. I don't remember how he got it to stay in that shape though. His theory was that the wax would have more screen surface to adhere to and help the wax to flow from the center and not the sides.

Here was my "answer" from Magma Tower when I asked this:

"Hello! This is my 2nd GooKit I've ordered. Can you tell me how to use the mesh screen? No one on OozingGoo seems to know how it's supposed to be used. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)"

Their answer:

"bend them, cut into them to form the screen. Many people prefer the coil which you can buy at a hardware store."

Not helpful in the slightest!
