Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So I have a Vintage Lava lamp that has a few problems that I am hoping someone can help me resolve. First the liquid inside seems to have a yellowish tint to it. The amount of liquid inside is low and all the lava was stuck at the top. I read a post somewhere else that said once it is warmed to swirl it around but now it may be worse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to fix this one as it was my grandmothers who just passed away a month ago.

Thanks

So, Update. After turning it back on all the wax went back to just floating at the top. Please help!

Well if all the wax is together now and no longer separated, then that means the fluid is the globe is too "heavy"  unscrew the top and add a little bit of distilled water at a time until the wax begins to fall.  Just add a little distilled water at a time, if you do too much then we will have to start messing with epson salts and we don't want to have to do that.  Try it and let us know, patience and a little distilled water at a time. Good luck shane!

if you have any stuck tidbits just hit them with a hair dryer and they should loosen up and float again

Thank you so much for the advise. The distilled water was the ticket. Still need to add just a little more but it is working 100 times better. So you can see in my picture that the fluid was a bit low in it. I have it almost filled back to the top and it is a thing of beauty. This has made my day. Thanks again so very much.

Great to hear bro.  Glad you can have some good memories of your grandmother when you see this beautiful lamp going through its motions.  I to have and acrylic multi colored square pattern lamp from the 50's-60's that my grandmother always had hanging, a swag type lamp to be exact.  But when I see it have so many fond memories of her and the good times I had at her place when I was a kid.  Glad it can be enjoyed once again, and post some pics.  Thanks again.

FYI, there is a good likelihood  from viewing the photos that it came with Yellow fluid

Over time it fades and can be resurrected with food coloring if you so choose to do so

So I just wanted to post an update to my Lava lamp issue. The adding of the distilled water did the trick. Ended up having to put enough in to bring the level back to where it was supposed to be. I want to say thank you so so very much for the advise. This lamp means the world to me and I am happy to be able to enjoy it once again.

Wow, great to see it in all it's glory. Grats bro!

I am glad everything worked out for you so well and so easily. That lamp is beautiful! Where did you find it?

It was my Grandmothers who recently passed away. She had it for as long as I can remember and some time before that im sure. It is a true treasure to me as she raised me my whole life.
