Got mine this AM and let it set for a few hours to acclimate. It was not frozen and was actually quite warm. I fired it up and it works great. Clear and moves nice. Great lamp.

A lot of sellers consider them "working" if they move at all. The first few mins after the lava is heated up, it throws up a few blobs. But then it just stays in a mound at the bottom.

He said in the ad that he tested them. So yours should work. I would contact him and ask for a refund if it does not work. My lamp shows working photos with the lava in action. What would cause wax not to flow?

Erin said:

I will say that 2002 can be a weird year for globes, too. The one I got from that seller (clear/purple) - the lava does not flow. It heats up but does not go anywhere. I've ran it several times now and no action. I had another globe from 2002 with similar issues several years ago.

No fault of the seller, for sure, but 2002 globes can be weird. I would not hesitate to get one of those lamps if you see a color combo you like. But if there are earlier years, I'd opt for those instead of a 2002 one.
