Aladdin - rather minty

Mid Seventies Aladdin in White/Blue.

The Aladdin is a bizarre lamp to me. In some regards I just kinda hate it because it is sooooo friggin' tacky. Yet, because of this extreme tackiness I kinda love it too.

It's sorta like a really bad movie that you KNOW IS BAD but you love it anyhow. Xanadu comes to mind, friggin' love that horribly bad movie.

So I guess the Aladdin is my "Xanadu of Lava Lamps". Oh, and this particular bottle is just amazing the flow is spectacular and it's perfectly clear.

i bought the one that was on ebay last week. it had two dents and the gold was faded and the wax in the globe is no good, but i paid $55 for it and i think ill make it my first real all out fixer upper. ill refill the globe and paint it up. maybe ill even go for a midnight aladdin hahaha. But im happy with what i got for the price honestly, these arent the easiest lamps to find.. I like how it still has the sticker in the cap. model aladdin dec. 1975

I understand, it is hard to find really nice Aladdins and Saturnas most are damaged somewhat.

Claude, These lamps are out there, you will come across one. The more I have mine around the more it grows on me.

Still looking for one to add to the vintage collection.

With enough deco around it, it might not look so tacky

True, and I do have a "vintage" display, but I think I would like this one better with the handle and spout OFF

LOL Keith! My wife says: "I love it...it is so seventies tacky". I guess that sums it up sorta, as it takes us back to our childhood and all of these kitschy things that went on then......stirs fond memories of happy (better?) times. I suppose no vintage Lava Lite collection would be complete without one.

I don't have mixed feelings, I just don't like it!  lol, but if I found one cheap enough I would try and let it grow on me.

Thank you Carol. I agree I am indeed lucky to have her. I do like these lamps....I just am not completely sure why! LOL. I sure enjoyed running the two vintage lamps yesterday and my clear/white Astro too.
