Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Here is a photo of the old spring (left) and new spring (right). The old spring feels very cheap. It also feels exactly like the spring in a clicky pen. The new spring is thicker and much bigger. It will sit at the base correctly instead of lop sided like the old spring.

Question for you...I was looking at these springs at Lowes the other day and noticed they're very tightly compressed out of the package.
How did you "stretch" the spring out to widen the gaps between the coils for use in the globe?

Neo- That's ok :) Never seen the screens before.

Bohdan- Coils make much better sense. Not sure why screens. That's like having nothing down there as far as dissipating heat.

Thanks for the pic. Lol, yeah I can imagine the screen not making the lamps flow right. It seems like it would be the same thing without the screen. Springs are better. Much better.

Interesting. I guess the lamps need the extra springs? Never seen a grid spring before. If you can sometime, snap a pic and post it up. Would be cool to see.
