Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

A recently restored Empress lava lamp. The cup was re-finished, and new aluminum support rods were made to replace the ones that were missing. I have a spare Regency globe at home for this lamp.

Apparently, as per the two that just showed up on eBay, a wooden top WAS correct for these at some point.

Thanks, Fog. I bought this in a WA thrift store around 1999 for around ten dollars, sans globe. Had it for years, before finding a homemade lamp using a Princess cup, globe and stem. The owner had obviously bought a lamp new and modified it for his log cabin (he built the house and much of its furniture from trees cleared from the site) creating a really hideous giant lamp consisting of a 4-foot-long, diagonal tree slice complete with bark and a huge, rough-sanded, S-shaped piece of limb with the comparatively little lamp on the end. I married the two, plugged the extra hole on the Princess board, and had myself a hybrid.

I replaced the broken switch on the bottom, and traded Fog this backing, the Empress cup and the Princess parts for a French lamp, which is visible on the TrippyGlitters site (the green mossy ceramic oval with thread glitters). As can be seen, Fog turned it back into an Empress. What will become of the Princess parts? Another nifty lamp? I'm sure whatever it is, it'll be better than that ugly tree-parts thing it came with. And I can't wait to see this Princess complete.

SO glad it arrived safely and is all fixed up! May I tell the background story on this base here, Fog?

I've got a spare Regency globe ready for it at home. It has the wrong top (wooden), but at least it'll fit.
