Kinda looks orangey-reddish/gold when it gets going but it's yellow wax with 10 gallons of purple liquid (a little faded over time so I keep it covered up away from sunlight). Takes about 12 hours to really get flowing but when it does..... cosmic!
Interesting. I did see the pics you posted of this lamp a while back and I was thinking that this lamp is one of the very first Humongo's. These lamps were sort lived and from what I learned about these lamps they sold for $3000 to $3500! I have never seen one before so I don't know for sure but I would guess that this is one of them! This a incredible lamp for sure!!! I wonder how many of these lamps where sold? Probably not many at all.
From what I was told I'm the third owner. The woman I bought it from (for too many 1xxs than I care to mention!) said she got it from a rich New Yorker she'd worked for about 10 years ago. It was part of his game room; pinball machines, basketball hoops, foozball etc...she was selling all of it. She didn't know when he got it but she was told he had it custom made. That would line up pretty well with 2000 when I understand the humongo was made. Mine has no dimmer switch on base and I'm not able to find if the humongo had one. This could tell me if it's a custom.
