Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I'm afraid I tinkered too much with this one: After heating up the wax builds lots of small bubbles, wandering around very slowly, without merging again.
The Lamp has enough surfactant and even a coil, but the blobs stay apart. When turning out the light it takes half an hour and the wax is combined in one block again :-)

Density is certainly not the issue.

It might be best to just change the fluid, Water bath super-heat the goo, and start over.??

Well, I tried a dimmer, but the wax immediately reacts like on the picture, as soon as it's melted.

I think the wax somehow changed it's characteristics. It's an old lamp. When I purchased it, it was very cloudy, I changed the liquid several times, used different surfactants, dyed the wax (was very pale), and now the surface tension is gone mad - once melted it never merges again...

Do not know about Mathmos temps,  but LL should be @125 degree F

Would a dimmer help? Mine does that if I leave it on all day, I know, bad practice on my part but sometimes I fall asleep watching the flow. lol

And it's not about water density: Changing the concentration of propyleneglykol doesn't effect the bubbling and the very slow movement
