Comment by Iain Mackinnon on June 21, 2015 at 9:52pm: Well..., yesterday I bought my first Lava lamp at the local car boot sales, with great expectation I plugged it in, turned it on, my great expectation turned into mild disappointment. The light worked, the wax finally (3 hours) started to travel in a sense, most of the wax lifted of the spring but would not circulate in the bottle it just hovered of the bottom however small amounts of wax ( grape size ) would break away from the mother load float to the top then sink to the bottom and repeat the process. The liquid seem to have a large amount of very small particles floating in the bottle which looked the same as the wax. After turning it off and letting it cool overnight, the water is slightly cloudy and the wax would appear to have air bubbles trapped in it.

Is there a ranking among lava lamps or are they all created equal. The label inside the base says " Series 1100, Lava Lite, N13697,( Blurb about electrical type and globe ) HAGGERTY, ENTERPRISES INC. Chicago, IL, USA. The bottle has a beer type cap not a screw type.

Is it possible to restore the lamp back to it original state....?

Hoping some one in Lava world can help me.
