New info on the “Rainbow Series” and more questions...

The second lamp from the left is marked “Model 200” with a darker “8” in front. l expected it to say model 206 as it looks similar to the one I’ve seen on this site. Could this be a new lamp different from the 206? maybe the first of the Rainbow series?? Or is the 206 actually a 200? The Aztecs on the right say “model 205” with no “8” in front so I’m assuming 82–would have been the designation for the rest of the never-to-be Rainbow lamps (8201, 8202 etc...). Also 8200 is the same model # as the mid-70s Enchantress planter. I imagine such confusion may have hastened the decision to axe the Rainbow line prematurely.

From my knowledge, there were four models in the Rainbow series with the Aztec being the flagship one. As of now, three have been found, but only two numbers have been verified: 205 and 206. This "203" model had the box in the listing, yet the owner never took photos of the ink stamps.

Thanks for the great info. Wow never saw the blue version ever before. You would think it was an Elec-trick if not for the screw-top. Do you know if they made any others? I always thought they stopped the Rainbows after the Aztec just as they were starting to produce the red 206 around 1981. Learn something new every day!

I'd imagine it to be a 206. Those stickers can be a little misleading sometimes as they were not very tightly controlled in terms of which lamp got which model printed. I have a number of 32oz screw-caps with mismatched models and even a Midnight labelled Aug 1987, two years before they hit the market. In case you want more on the Rainbow series, here's a blue model I saw on eBay last year.

I would label this as a 203 since the blue/white combo had already existed much like the clear/red used in the 206.

I grow more envious of your amazing collection every time you post a photo. ;)
