Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

It's a little early, but I needed a taste of fall, lol!!! This lamp used to be a blue/clear goo kit that went plum/purple!! I should have shot some b4 pics, but I dumped a butt ton of blue/violet and red dyes into it and colored the water orange!! I think it's pretty close to LL's original!!

Just got done ordering an LL black/orange 52 oz from Spencer's online.  22.99 plus shipping, but I had another 20 percent off, so all total was 31 and some chump change.  I hate to say that I'm paying that for a dump and run, but honestly, better then paying that to watch boring flow.  At least I know it will be a nice lamp when the transplant is done.  The lamp that the orange/black is in now somehow or another developed a hairline crack.  It was also one of the globes from ebay that I got beat on, so maybe it rolled around in the box and the crack was there all along and just got worse.  Also, I kind of stuck it in the fridge when it was still kind of warm to reharden the wax.  I was going to start the project, but when I was half way there in firing her up I noticed the water was a bit hazy, so I wanted to harden the wax fast to do the water change and stuck it in the fridge.  30 dollar lesson learned if that's what caused it, but honestly the globe was crap anyways.

I will fire up the new lamp if it comes clear just to see how the flow is.  I'm pretty sure it's going to come cloudy though.  Then I won't feel bad cracking a new lamp open.  The lava gods were not good to me 2nite, lol!!!

Ben, if you want to do an orange/black just don't be disappointed at this one thing.  You won't like it in total darkness.  You really can't see squat.  It is just like the LL original.  You need to have it next to another light source or backlight it.  Even putting it next to another lava I don't think will work.  It will also make a nice day lamp, but in total darkness the lava is not really visible.

Hehe, just thought, you could put a Harley Davidson decal on the base!  Hmmm!
