I have heard the same thing Jonas. Also the company has changed hands so many times that I suspect various owners and location moves took their toll. It is sad really.

I'm told the reason Lava has no old stuff is because executives often took things with them as they retired.

You guys who were curious about this lamp.  Look at the photo in the link below.  This is a pic of the Rocket (aka Princess) and behind it on the counter you can see this lamp.  The pic was taken at Mathmos headquarters and this is the area of the office where they display their vintage lamp collection.  You can see this early lamp of Craven's in the pic immediately behind the floor standing beauty!

That it Craven Walker ' s very first prototype as he experimented. It is at Mathmos headquarters to this day. At least Mathmos keeps some of their history making lamps in their collection...Lava Lite has no such collection.

Does anyone know the story behind this? Is this the actual first lamp? I know the original egg timer was said to have been put in a glass cocktail shaker, and that the lamp built using it was made of old tins.
