Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

It's not bad! Looks better in person than in pics. It's actually very neat to watch. I got this from Amazon for $18 shipped. Pleasantly surprised.

EDIT: apparently, this is supposed to have GLITTER in it. Either the glitter is dissolved, or Lava Lite's idea of glitter is different than mine. There is NO glitter in this lamp. There IS white "stuff" in there - looks like the same kinda stuff that's in snow globes.

Hard to believe the original products Lava Lite produced in the 60's are still going strong with proper care, after 50 years.  The sh*t they put out now will not last 30 days.  Shows you the company pride to the name and the product is not worth a crap.  I hope you are reading the Lava Lite.  Get your sh*t together and revisit your beginning where company's had pride in their products and their name!  Bought a Lava Lite glitter swirl lamp and within one week the  green LED went out.  Took it back and got another and that one has been working fine.  It is like there is no quality control over there.  Just throw the crap in a box and send it out and let the customer deal with it. Very sad!  Actions speak louder than words!  Get to work Lava Lite.

I believe it may have been glitter that disintegrated.  But, these lamps aren't that old, so if this is what happens to all of them... A lot of the pics of them for sale on eBay look to have the white fluff and not the glitter. It's not a bad lamp, even with the fluff, but when I see there's supposed to be GLITTER in there, I want GLITTER!

Ew.... It is like the glitter grew fuzz or something! I hope it gets sorted out with a proper glitter globe!

The hard part is, a lot of them go to crap after the 30 days, which is the store's return policy. However, I think that Lava Lite's warranty might be 90 days. But, even the replacement lamps they send (if you do complain to LL and get a replacement) will have the same problems, so you never truly get a good lamp.

GOOD!!!  I can't wait to hear about what the replacement looks like!!!  I just found the receipt for my son's 52 oz neon green with the brown gunk in it.  Purchased July 1st!!!  U believe it??  Already has pieces of the brown gunk coming off into the lava.  I should really bitch to Susan how I can't exchange it now because it's over 30 days and Spencer's policy on returns is 30 days!!!  But ya know what???  She might offer to send me out another one and then I'll probably get a cloudy one or another brown gunker!!!  I'm just gonna let it get nasty and goo kit it.  But 22.00 spend for a 2 month old lamp that is now goo kit fodder is ridiculous.  I do the same as far as purchasing LL lamps Erin.  I just bought the Clearview Red.  It's ok.....it's much better with the 30 watt bulb but still nothing to write home about....at least the coil is clean and it's still clear.  We'll see what happens down the road, lol!!!  Keep us updated on this because I'm dying to know what the new lamp is like...

Well, I just heard back from Susan. She's sending me a replacement and I'm sending her mine, so we'll see what happens!

Nothing we say or do will have any impact on Lava Lite's efforts. Just trust me on that one. The best action we can take is to write reviews, return poor quality lamps and spread the word. I, of all people, should know better. But each time I buy a lamp, I think "maybe this one won't be crap" and I should know better. Even if it's OK for a bit, it will eventually turn to crap. Lava Lite lamps used to be able to last 30+ years. That will never be the case with these lamps. They're disposable and people shouldn't be buying them.

PS, Is there anyway we can complain to LL about those stupid photoshopped pics.....I don't think that's helping their sales any!!!!!  Probably won't mean anything anyway....

Comment by Carol on September 3, 2014 at 8:29am

I know Erin.......I buy them, then after a month, they turn to .....well ...."shit"...My son's 52 oz Neon is only a month or so old and there is brown gunk in the coil which is now breaking off into the lava!!!!  I'm so disgusted with those crappo lamps!!!  16 years old and he is like "mom, I want another lamp like that one", and points to his goo kit.  I'm like why?  he's like because this one doesn't do anything!!!  lololo!!  it's funny, but it's not.  Here is a lamp that I NEVER ran over 8 hours.  Brown gunk!!  So, I'm resorting to either vintage or goo kits......oh and my Clearview does the same repetitious flow....although it spikes and then shoots off globes, it's the same thing over and over and over....it does bore me to sleep though....ok, my rant for the day...off to work.....lol!!!  Enjoy your day Erin!!!
