Hi Bloodshedder:

Here's a link to a thread that I have visited in the past. It's a modified version of the retro formula.

Here's a link to a youtube video that I found interesting.

There is a search box on the top right of the page here. Type in 'Retro Formula' and you'll get a lot of hits to look at. I've heard the search engine here isn't the greatest but it's what we have for now. Hit me up if you have any other questions. Also, keep a piece of paper handy as you research and write down the components you'll need to start the build process. Finally, play safe! You're dealing with chemicals and heat. I'd recommend a single burner hot plate so you can do your work outside on the porch, away from children and pets. Protect your eyes with goggles, your hands with nitrile gloves and keep your nose out of the solution when you add the 'perc' to the wax. Brake cleaner is some seriously foul stuff in your nostrils. Talk soon!

Hi Bloodshedder:

I'll be happy to share with you but we've got to get past the Father's Day weekend first. Keep a couple of things in mind. I personally haven't done a lot of repairs on my lamps. I've been striving to get great looking lamps from the beginning so I don't have these kinds of problems. Having said that, I recently got all the tools and materials to actually make a lamp using what is called the retro formula. Several people claim success with the formula. I'm looking forward to trying it myself within the next couple of weeks. Here's something else to consider. What you are requesting from me is not an original thought. The forums are cram packed with info to look at. That's one way I have learned some things myself. Also, you can post your questions there and the kind folks here are always eager to chime in with their own version of how they have achieved success. I'll shoot you some leads in the next couple of days. Do me a favor and post a pic of your ailing lamp so that I can hopefully tell you more about what you have and what is the problem with it. Until then, take care. I'll be in touch!
