Wow! Almost 10 years to the day since our last visit, this time to their premises on an industrial estate, unit 2 at Poole in sunny Dorset. We were lucky enough to go to the original Sterte Avenue West premises back in September 2009.

Once again I must say, the staff there were most accommodating and friendly. Took some pics of their amazing lava lamp line up including Astros, Telstar and Neos both table and wall varieties and enjoyed looking at the whole range including Space Projectors and the ‘pop art’ style of the new packaging. This time my friend Paul bought a brand new Metallic Astro with yellow wax. We just made it in time before closing as even the Lamps on display were switching themselves off (on timers) after a busy day flowing and glowing.

Thank you Mathmos

Gosh, is it really only a week since my trip to sunny Dorset and to the Mathmos factory in Poole? The folks we met there were really nice and friendly and even let us look around the place including where they fill the bottles!

I spotted a nice boxed Faze 2 lamp there but alas it was not for sale.

It was nice to see the permanent display of current products and my friend Paul and I even made a couple of purchases, Paul a nice replacement Astro bottle in Violet/Orange and I bought 2 Thaws…

It was nice to see the permanent display of current products and my friend Paul and I even made a couple of purchases, Paul a nice replacement Astro bottle in Violet/Orange and I bought 2 Thaws because I think they look fab in their copper finish!

Paul and I even took some photos and we were shown the place where it all started, a little out building which is now a single car garage and no longer part of the Mathmos grounds. This was the little workshop where Mr Craven-Walker developed the concept of the early lava lamp, an historical place indeed.
Peace, love and lava
