Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So i cannot find a goo kit ANYWHERE. Magma Towers is and has been out of stock. I spoke to them 2 weeks ago and he told me that they will restock by the end of last week and that they were having some problems with their suppliers. And here it is 2 weeks later and still out of stock. They are apparently the only ones on this planet that make/made them. I can't find even the mention of one anywhere. Someone please prove me wrong. There must be a goo kit out there for me somewhere.

I've got an 11", a 14", and a 16". All were shipped apparently new but all arrived beyond help. Somehow it seems it would be easier to ship liquid seperate from wax. My opinion only. Thanks for the advice. I truly do appreciate it.

Which lamps, or what size lamps are you planning to repair?  The smaller the globe the more difficult success will be.  I have had success by replacing the fluid and keeping the original wax.  I use a small amount of SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) as a surfactant and propylene glycol to adjust fluid density so the wax will rise properly.  Check out Claude's detailed method of refurbishing lamps for step-by-step procedures.

Hmmmmm, now I'm back at square one. I've just cancelled the order of Tetrachloroethylene and am reconsidering my options, minus the one's that cause cancer. I've had a real run of bad luck with these recent lamp purchases that i really should consider everything. Thanks again.

I'm trying to repair 2 brand new lamps i just purchased. Actually, these are both replacements for 2 I purchased that both arrived in horrible condition. Faded color, cloudy bad, and now 4 lamps bought brand new in box unopened have arrived dead.

It is not that easy as you think, and most bottles stop working after some time, as the Tetrachloroethylene seperates from the wax. Also keep in mind, that Tetrachloroethylene is a very toxic chamical which cause cancer.
If you really want to use wax, you maybe should buy a new bottle and use the contents of it for your old bottle.

I have decided to make my own i guess. I just puchased some Tetrachloroethylene which is needed to make the goo. I believe I will be successful. Thank you for your comment. It's nice to know someone is reading stuff. Wish me luck!

Magmatower is the only company who makes and sells kits with wax.
The only other company with refill kits I know is www.goolamp.com
They sell kits for glitter Filling, not wax.
