Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

A customer at my work returned a Lava Lamp that is not one I sell but was inside the new special edition lamp with the white base and purple liquid. I was hoping someone here could help me identify the lamp I now have and where it possibly came from or how old it is.

I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience even though they wouldn't accept the lamp back after 30 days.

Yeah, I hate people that take advantage!!!  Ya know I live in Cape May, NJ and my closest Spencer's is over an hour drive (Mays Landing, NJ).  They go as far as to let me pull as many lamps from their tubes as I want until I find a globe I am happy with!!!  They will plug in one base and let me put every globe on that base.  When I went there for my black/green every one of 3 had some sort of funky white fluff and what looked like pieces of metal in them, so after making the poor sales guy go through pulling them all, I walked out without anything.  He said don't worry, they were going to send all 3 back anyway because they looked weird.  He didn't know what the mysterious stuff was floating around inside the globe, but fellow OG members said that when you run them it all blends together, but others said that when they bought theirs in that condition, it turned cloudy on them.  I didn't want to take the chance after that long ride, but long story short, my Spencer's is really good like that.  They will not take back a lamp after the 30 day policy though.  I can't blame that on that.  So I call LL and they normally take care of it.  I have since stopped buying LL lamps and now do my own customs, but I want to try and get a black/orange for Halloween 52 oz.  I may take a trip to spencer's one day.

Some locations are pretty intense about our 30-Day, No cash back return policy. Others who are more concerned with customer care will do whatever it takes to make them happy, which is what Spencers wants. But yes I do hope karma will come full circle.

Wow, you can actually return a lamp made in the 2000's in that condition at Spencer's for a brand new Anniversary Edition lamp?  I can't even return mine after 30 days with a receipt at my store, lol!!!  That customer lucked out, but he did a grimey thing so karma might prevail and his new lamp may not be all it's cracked up to be

That was naughty of them. I would want the whole package inc. the box as that is the whole deal, lamp and box especially as it is 50th anniversary!

Awesome! Thank you. I guess they really wanted the anniversary edition without actually paying for it. I only wish we had caught it before it was returned. :/

That is one of the resin lamps made by Lava Lite in the early 2000s. They were made in China and overheated quickly. It looks to have a lot of stuck wax. I wonder why the customer returned it in the 50th lamp box?
