Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Please enjoy the cheesy music bed I chose. :) This is a hard lamp to film, but here's my best attempt.

It's not bad! Looks better in person than in pics. It's actually very neat to watch. I got this from Amazon for $18 shipped.

EDIT: apparently, this is supposed to have GLITTER in it. Either the glitter is dissolved, or Lava Lite's idea of glitter is different than mine. There is NO glitter in this lamp. There IS white "stuff" in there - looks like the same kinda stuff that's in snow globes.

OK, I'll do that Carol! I'm curious to see what they say.

OK, I think we have some of the mystery solved. There are two lamps:

* Tornado lamp: http://www.amazon.com/Lava-Lite-7220-Tornado-Phasing/dp/B008GPQPDC/...

* Vortex lamp: http://www.amazon.com/Lava-Lite-2210-20-Ounce-Color-Phasing/dp/B004...

I thought they were one in the same.

Susan's response was this, but I think she got a few of the details wrong:

"The Vortex and Tornado are to different types of lamps.

Your Tornado has glitter and is not white fluff but moves faster and quicker due to the Tornado affect.

Your lamp looks great! And the Tornado is really moving.

The Vortex rotates slower and moves the glitter at a different speed."

She said my tornado has glitter and is not white fluff. It's DEFINTELY not glitter.

I ordered a Vortex lamp from amazon.com, so I'll be doing a comparison soon! Again, it would help immensely if they would do accurate product shots on the boxes. The box for my tornado lamp definitely has the word "glitter" on it though!

I wish the two lamps could mesh together. The visual appeal of the funnel from your lamp and the dazzle of the glitter from the Vortex model. Still want one and would go towards the model you picked up Erin. Would also be cool to have a severity adjustment F1 to F5, maybe throw some mini cow toys and fence posts in there for kicks!

The description on amazon.com's page for this (Tornado) lamp is all kinds of WRONG:

"Tornado rages on with the combination of glitter and color-phasing LED light" - wrong, no glitter

"Color phasing wax with clear liquid and black base" - um, nope.

"Soothing slow moving bubbles" - again, no.

"Glass housing with steel base and matching top" - base and cap are plastic, not metal

"while its color phasing-wax/clear-liquid color scheme" - I feel like they're not even reading their own shit...

"a brushed-steel base anchors the unit" - not steel

"Powered with a standard electrical cord and lit with a 25-watt incandescent bulb" - seriously... no bulb is in this lamp.

Looks like I need to write a review...

Oh wow, that is pretty off topic Erin!  I would definitely cue people in on factual specs of the product.

That's seriously screwed up!!!!  Definitely a review is in order!!!

Well this sucks. Amazon.com is telling me I've already reviewed this item, but I haven't. I think the problem is that all these lamps are lumped underneath the same item - if you look at the page there are 1,292 reviews and obviously, they aren't all for the Tornado Lava Lamp - they're all lumped together. I have reviewed several lava lamps, but not this one, so I'm guessing another one I've reviewed is "counting" towards this one. Fart.

Sorry but ending that comment with fart had me laughing, real mature Nick. That is pooie they count a different model review as a general review on the entire sub listing!

Erin, are you on any kind of social media like facebook, twitter?  Sometimes you can review through them.  Just a thought.  Yes, I've read reviews for lamps that weren't even the lamp I was looking at purchasing.  I think Walmart does that too.  I know Spencer's does.  When I was writing my review on my purple Neon, the other reviews were talking about colors of lamps that weren't under the same review.  Stupid.  Well, I guess there is going to be a lot of disgruntled tornado/vortex customers out there!!!

LOL I end a lot of my real life statements with it, too. :P Just a word I use a lot. Glad you got a chuckle.

I'm editing the product features via amazon.com - we'll see if that works... at least it won't confused so many people then
