hi Jerome,
It's the "original lava lamp" sold at Walmart. We bought another one that works in the kitchen, so I will plug that one in upstairs and see if it lavas up there. If not it must be either the room, too hot, or the outlet, too hot. Someone suggested a frosted lightbulb might work better. I will keep trying.
Hi, My interest lies in the french bubbling lamps, which includes the lamps that have the same action as the shooting star bubble lights from the 50's...Lou
I think the serenity would be wonderful in my house right now. They have a few new ones I've found online but they have plastic people and/or dolphins in them and are not really what I want. I'm probably going to experiment with making the "cylinder" part since there are many instructions on how to do that. Perhaps if I get that part right I'll just sit in my rocking chair and create the same effect. You think?
Thank you Alpha C....I have been a casual lava lite fan since i was a child.....i still have my origial lamp and it works perfectly. i recently purchased a grande that arrived with cloudy water. i was looking for a "fix" and came across this site. After much research and advice, i spent the weekend doing surgery on my cloudy grande.......it took all day and trial and error, but it is perfect now. i am hooked! now i want to research building my own. I love this site....thanks again,
well, two people already saying hi, and all i did was sign up, so...still a friendly bunch, i see! i haven't been here in a long time. it looks great. and i'm glad to be back.
Thanks for the welcome, not exactly comp literate so bear with me.bit of a retro freak interested in all things vintage will put a couple of pics of some of my lamps jukes and various other strange things, looking to obtain a new colourway for my lunar at present purple red, but have already learned a lot from the site on subject but if anyone could help further mathmos dont seem interested would be grateful all the best trev
Hi Alpha Centauri,
Thanks, I feel most welcomed by the people here.
I came here on a mission to make my first lava lamp. currently I have no commercially bought ones, but I am gathering the materials to make one soon.
Just looking at the photo feed above the comment box right now. You have a very fine collection! Many of these types of lamps I haven't seen before and are very intriguing. Again, thanks for taking the time to comment, it goes a long way to new comers like myself. :)
Take care~

thanks, alpha! the mathmos lamps look beautiful and really substantial. i'd love to see one. i was in chicago this past weekend and ate breakfast at a place that celebrates the '70s. there were four lava lamps just above my head but they all looked very cloudy and unhappy. one wasn't working at all! so sad. thanks again!
Thanks for the welcome Jerome. I have just started playing with Lava. I read on the goo site it's expensive, frustratingly hair pulling & cheaper to buy one. BUT I HAVE TO MAKE ONE or die trying. So here I am. I'm in my late 50's and own & run a small computer repair shop on my own, and no I am not a mega rich Bill Gates type. Just a battling small businessman. I live in NSW Australia on the central coast. Danny
