Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

A few weeks ago I decided to list some aquarium air pumps and filters I had sitting around, so I threw them up on Ebay. First off I was not happy to see Ebay & Paypal fees would exceed 10% of the auction value, anyway I bit the bullet and listed. The auction ran its course and I had a winning bidder who paid with Paypal the same day, I checked my Paypal account and it says "payment pending" so I notify the buyer I will ship as soon as the payment clears......well here we are 10 days later and the payment is still "pending" so I call Paypal only to find out they have started a new "hold your money for 21 days" shit, I told Paypal I will not ship items until I have the payment cleared, they said "either 21 days or when the item is marked as received by the buyer" again I tell them I am not shipping until I have the money and they repeat the same FUC%&*# statement. So I contact the buyer and let them know what is going on and they tell me the funds have been removed from their account, I responded to them I am not shipping the item until it clears on my end and I never get a response back from the buyer (a week now).

So here I am each day checking my Paypal account looking at a payment that says "being processed" so I start to investigate and apparently MANY are having the same problems

I have been with Paypal/Ebay 10 years, registered with a verified bank account backed by a credit card as back up funds, I have never bounced a payment or had any problems what so ever. I was wondering if anyone else here is suffering the same problems ?? Bohdan I know you have been selling stuff lately, did you run into this problem ??

No way am I shipping items I have not been paid for, I trust no corporation to do what is right.

I sold a few things on ebay recently and was paid through paypal for all of them, the funds cleared straight into my account so is this something thats changed recently or does it only apply to paypal users in the USA?
Just found this on the paypal site which explains why none of my payments were put "on hold"

PayPal will hold payments in transactions where the vast majority of seller fraud occurs. Here are the most common instances in which a payment may be held:

* You have been on eBay less than six months and sell an item above £50
* You have a feedback score of less than 98% and sell an item above £50
* More than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*
* You have an average Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) of 4.5 or less
* You have received less than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings
* You are listing your item in a higher-risk category which include gift certificates, video games, mobile phones, computers, and consumer electronics

PayPal will not hold payments for eBay items if you meet the following criteria:

* You have been an eBay member for more than 6 months, and
* Your total Feedback score is greater than 100, and
* Fewer than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*

Or

* Your average DSR is greater than 4.5, and
* Your have received more than 20 DSRs in the last 12 months
* Your buyer dissatisfaction percentage is less than 5%

They can go screw for all im concerned, no way am I shipping until I have my money. This has really gone way out of control...There is also a conflict of interest with Ebay owning Paypal ?? WTF glad no one is looking out for the consumer as usual.

BS. I will NEVER ship an item until funds are in hand. Ever. Period, the end. I don't care what PayPal says. I have never had an issue with them and I have used them for 10 years.

Now, eBay buying up PayPal and then charging fees for selling on eBay and then fees for accepting money. That's another story and that itself is BS. It's like DOUBLE fees. PayPal's fee's are not too bad for the convenience it offers. I will say that. However eBay fees are outrageous. It's like robbery.

I avoid selling when I can to be honest. When I sold my fiber spray's, I only sold 5. All for $145 each. eBay took $11 dollars for each one sold. ELEVEN freaking dollars. ROBBERY!
