Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Every once in a while I see a LL go for buku bucks on Ebay and I wonder if it is because it is very rare and I just don't know the value or if crazy bidders are just trying to out bid each other. Is there any real reason that this lamp should go for over $200?

unless there's something i missed, someone payed way too much!

the bidding seems odd too. several of the bidders, although they may have 100+ feedback, it may be 50% with that seller. many of the bidders seemed to be like that.

Now I see this one which was posted in the over priced LL thread. I am starting to think that someone is laundering drug money through LL purchases on Ebay.

And how about this one. A seller with no experience. I hope it doesn't brake!

I payed 15.00 for mine, I replaced the faded globe for one I found at the fleamarket I know I was lucky

Know what you mean, been there done that, got the t-shirt!

All depends on who's bidding on the day lol.

Sometimes people will really want a lamp and get into a bidiing war with someone for it, which results in overpaying.

I know this to be true, as I have been there. -  lol

I wanted that lamp, too. Badly. But I didn't even bid once I saw it jump to 200.
Don't feel bad about this one.  this one is the one to have. Make sur to ask the seller to protect the base by putting tissue between it and the metal insert that holds the bulb. I also bought one of these off EBay and the sleeve chipped off pieces of the inner rin of the ceramic.

I was the fool who bought the Galactic. I really wanted one and with the original box, I went for it. It's just one of those things that if you want it and it comes up, I had to jump on it. I'm sure others have paid a lot for lamps. I just figure it's a collectors item, esp. in the original box. To me, I thought it was a good deal, but I could be wrong, I've been wrong before!
Dave, let me know which ones you are missing...  I've got a lot of dupes.  And, I won't ask $195 for any of them!  ;)

Well, went and picked lamp up the post office. Great news is that it arrived in mint shape, NOS. I don't think the globe has ever been fired. The seller really knew how to pack it. There's no chips of cracks in the base, globe is crystal clear #21, cap is in great shape. I think it was a lot, but I'm super stoked to have it! Esp. in the original box with paperwork. It's warming up and I will post some pics of it later. I almost now have most of the Ceramic Series 2 collected, minus 2 or 3 give or take.

Looks like two old hippies were playing "Quien es mas macho."
I think it went for alto because it is mint condition just out of the box, or so it appears.
Somewhere in the world is a guy who will NOT let his girlfriend/wife know how much he paid for that lamp.....
I have no idea what you are talking about mr. bunco.
