Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Ok Guys

So i've just adopted my first Lunar - Yaay !   It needs a bit of a polish up starting with the cone, but I can't seem to get it off the bottle.  I've unscrewed the tip thinking this holds it on but the cone is stuck tight and I don't want to use any undue force in case I damage it.

Also, what are you guys using for polish.  I've tried Autoglym metal polish on a tarnished Telstar fin, but although it cleans and polishes it up nice & shiny, i'm left with faint swirl sratch marks - even with using a microfibre cloth.....

...thanks CL, i'll give it a try.......judging by the amount of grime on the outside, I may well find a birds nest under there too !

Yuck !

.....well, how about that......2 mins under a hot shower head and it popped itself right off.

Think i'm going to need something more abrasive to start with, the aluminium is quite pitted......

hey Pete! woo-hoo congrats on the lunar!

i have used autosol & brasso (the one in the blue/silver tin as Richard said)

i found the brasso to work best on the legs. severe pitting may not come out but you will improve the finish no end.

be wary of using something too abrasive. Remember spencer had to send his away to be professionally polished in order to get it to look as new so i wouldnt sweat it too much, i dont think a few marks detract at all from its beauty :)

Ta - muchly.......

Autosol & Brasso it is then......and if I can't see my reflection when i'm finished, i'm selling it as a black annodised Luner next April, ha-ha....;D

Hey Pete she's lovely.

Cant wait to own a Lunar... clear/green will do me anytime .

I'm sure she will scrub up just fine.

Treat her gently....;)

Thanks bud,

gonna have to do a rain check for now.

Got two copper Crestworths and  a turquois Telstar in the pipeline.

All word of mouth.

SHhhh ;)

Don't worry, i'll be lavishing her with lots of gentle care and attention, just like the women in my life.........gosh, that sounds corny....;)

hi pete, what did you get him down to in the end, or didnt he budge, anyways glad you got the thing,
I think I will try the autosol and the brasso got a couple lamps off eBay that need some help.I think the one I got today could use some help.looked a bit cloudy too. I liked fixing them up before

.....just a fiver under his asking price, only because he didn't have change for a score....

i have a lunar bottle and it has remnants of silicone on it. i think the previous owner "glued" the top and bottle together

verry nice Pete - i am sure with a bit of polish handy work it should be fine
