Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

*edit

Any lamp is fair game now, not just the beatles and harley lamps. This thread has grown far beyond my expectations! 0.0

I really dont understand why these are always listed for ridiculous amounts. I see them all the time for $100 buy it now. I have a harley lamp and I want to sell it because I dont like it. Someone locally tried to sell me a beatles lamp for $100. Are these people nuts? Why do they all seem to list them for stupidly high prices?

Anyways I thought it would be fun to see who can find the most over priced harley davidson or beatles submarine lamp.

I am setting the bar really high.

Sometimes there's real comedic value in the lines we invent, and to stimulate your other favorite line.

I'm gonna go "rub" my lava lamp globe now.

I am the winner, like always said:

Also, this is my new favorite line. :D

It's good for me. I'm not conceited, just confident.

Guess it's not much of a good debate if you're right, eh? Congratulations. Someone really likes themselves.

Your welcome. I love a good debate. Especially when I'm right. I've got some other good ammunition I'll pull out later if needed. Not really, but it helps build suspense.

Its a good one, no doubt. I belong on SNL.

That was back in the day. Back when we battled for lamps. When Saturna's were bringing $300. Genie lamps $450. You won that princess for $1,500. We were all watching. I even got in on it, but backed off after a thousand. It was cool back then. We had a passion for the rarity's. The vintage lamps was where it was at. Now everyone wants ceramics. The old lamps we were dropping our entire paycheck on, can now be had for a third of what we payed back then. I really feuled a lot of the wars back then for possession, once I started entering the competition. It was a cool time. Lava Lamps were enjoying royalty status back then, and we were responsible for it. I guess I can't say that the site has always had tire kickers, cuz back then it was a lava lamp royal rumble, and Kngbidder was determined to be the last man standing.

RARE LAVA LAMP GRANDE BLUE/WHITE GLOBE ONLY 75 MADE (#110337714156)

Buyer:

US $245.00

I never sold one for $245. Where did you see that? You can see them all if you log into eBay.

Ya, that one. Me helping someone on a limited income. Still good for two years ago. No complaints on my end. Like I said last year, I never expected to get $525. You have to go a little high to have room to bargain. Everyone wants a deal, and gets one at a couple hundred off the asking price. They're happy, and I'm happy. It's an excellent price, for a rare globe. Still might be more than you'd pay, but I would sell those all day long for $300 without thinking twice.
So what your saying is that your listing was over priced?

Not so sure I am buying your line of reasoning.  Let me start off by saying major props for your charitable contributions.

Now let's just say you initially purchased the globes at suggested retail price.  For the sake of things, let's set that at $75.  You sell 2 at $525, making $450 profit for globe.  You take your new found $900, dump it into savings and forget about it.  So how is the economy bolstered by this transaction?

You are reselling something that's already been produced.  Your sales will not impact manufacturing decisions - your initial purchase was years ago.  Yes, you bolster things by providing it to charity who in turn spend it how they see fit.  If you were to just pocket the money though, you wouldn't have any tangential effect on the economy.

The more we spend, the better the economy gets. When we allow ourselves to spend more on disposable items, we pull ourselves out of a recession. Everything thrives when we spend money. Everything dies when we don't.

I don't pocket the money, and I don't have a savings account. I use it for living expenses, buying more items, donating to charities, building old freestyle bikes, and fixing bikes for all the kids on our block, since all the parents are too preoccupied to pay any attention to them, taking care of my family by helping upgrade their computers when needed, or helping with their living expenses since they don't have much, donating lava lamps to all so they all have at least one (it's a must), and various other things.

That's what keeps the economy going, and enables me to do good with that money received, and in return someone gets a cherishable gift they'll love forever. What someone pays for an item, and what it's worth is irrelevant. Some things I buy big on, others I don't. It all comes out in the wash, and the law of averages keeps it level. I'm not taking anyone to the cleaners, and I don't force anyone to buy my items. They make offers, and if it's fair I'll accept them. I have 100% positive feedback, and just received another on one of the globes I just sold.
