Vintage Mediterranean

I picked up a very old Mediterranean with a very old box . It has a green wax with blue
liquid in it very old but flows good. Was the Mediterranean only in red lava or did it come
it another color . I will have to put this back into good vintage condition a lot of inner rust
and a little outer rust but the legs are straight and true.

According to this catalog page, the Mediterranean came in clear/red - yellow/orange - and blue/green.

I have a red/clear that I did a globe transplant on. It is one of my favorites.

Thanks for the update on the colors. You have one cool looking Mediterranean . Nice transfer on the
globe.

If anyone has ever had a consort globe in mediterranean or coil or even the candel powered globe and
the globe seems to go of center never really straight up. What i found out years ago is to go to Home Depot and get a few round rings 2" . On some models it will drop right in on others you may have to
file the outer ring to get it to drop in. It will land on the outer edge and become a nice platform for the globe also will raise the gloge 1/4" this will always keep your globe straight on. Here are a few pics of the rings.

I have an old Consort globe and a Mediterranean globe with this exact issue. I have been wracking my brain trying to find the right solution that does not present a remote chance of a fire hazard. Thanks a million!

Thanks man the 2" rings really helped me on my Mediterranean globe but seem too big for my consort. I am going to see if I can find rings slightly smaller. That was a great suggestion!

They come in other sizes just remember if it goes not fit use a file on the outer ring itself
and file some of the metal of the ring until it drops in without any resistance. On all of my other globes i had to file the ring down a little but it works great and now the globe will
always sit straight up. After i finished this coil one i used a file on the metal ring i took
about 20 min but it fit in well and straight.

Duh, I should have thought of that. Thanks bro, that should do the trick, a litlle filing here, a little filing there and voila the ring should slide in there like a greased pig!

Finished my restoration all rust removed . Base and cap refinished i filter pumped out the liquid and
cleaned out the globe. Wax and liquid is as was very old but flows nice and clear.

Sweet - that is a thing of beauty! You really do nice vintage restorations on these babies - I've learned a lot just following your restorations - thanks for sharing with us!!

Have you ever needed to add solution (water) to the globe to "top it off"? If so what's your formula?

Thanks.

I have old new stock that i use . Got a few old globes many years ago just for this kind of
project. The old liquid in this lava is a little touchy. I have however used liquid from globes
that came out in 1999 but just about 2 to 4 oz never any more and it worked fine.

Congrats, Bohdan!! That is the ONLY green/blue Med I've ever seen, as far as Ican remember - I could be wrong, anyone else have one? I've seen one or two orange/yellow ones in poor shape. All 70s models came in those three colors (except the Enchantress' later version, which also came in lime/green) but certain models seem to have sold best in certain colors.
