Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello I am new :-) and Im sure this has been discussed before but, I have been unable to find it.

I have a purple liquid with white lava from spencers.  The liquid is very dark and lava appears more

fuschia than white.  Is there any hope?  Should I return in hopes of better or is this as good as it gets?

It was shipped we have no spencers here any longer.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Can you post a picture of you lamp so we can see what you mean?

I am guessing that you got it recently and that its a 'china' lamp - in that case the best bet is to return it, get a refund and get a decent vintage USA made lamp off ebay.

Unfortunately this is often the case with lava world lamps now - they are really poor quality.

However if you relatively happy with the flow and its just a issue with the colour you could put it on a windowsill in bright light and over time the colour of the water will fade.

Here are some pix I took w/my phone.

and i know they are china made and im considering a mathmos?

The smaller one i can see my hand behind it, the purple one is too dense.

It has very good flow.

the color looks normal since anything white seen through purple will look purple-ish and add a little yellow from a light bulb and you have the magenta.  But it is really cloudy, I would either call Lava Lite and see what they will do about it, or send that sucker back for being that cloudy.

Spencers suggested what I've already did.  Ran 6-8 hrs every day for a week.  I did let it sit 24 hrs after shipping (it was very cold) to adjust to normal temp before turning it on.  I have been emailing back and forth with them.  Should I continue with Spencers or go straight to Lava Lite co?

go to Lava Lite, or return, if it was going to clear up it already would have, not that it should have come cloudy in the first place.

I stumbled into this thread thinking there might be a haze swirl for sale.  Thank God there isn't as I may just be tempted....

Good Morning All !  Ok, I took the advice and got an "Original LAVA LITE Black Purple 8409 Lava Lamp" Looks gorgeous in pic, I can't wait to get it! Also, instead of returning cloudy one, can I experiment and filter and/or change liquid?

Hell yes, by all means experiment!  Filtering will likely require a somewhat moderate investment up front for the filter.  Goo Kit is your best bet (and is loads of fun).

I would be amazed if this site is still functional.  Last updated in 2007.
