Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Has anyone refilled or topped off a 1960s "low lava level" 52oz. globe?

I have one of the 60s 52oz. globes that has less wax than most - the kind with the OLD formula that's supposed to run for days at a time. It clouded, I tried to filter it, had an accident and lost some liquid.

Has anyone topped one of these off or, better yet, kept the lava and refilled it somehow? If so, can you tell me what you did?

I swapped my fluids for distilled water and fog fluid and runs better than the milk water that was in it. but still needs some tweaking.

Tweaking with what? And do you know what proportions you started with?

i started with a little than half fog fluid and the rest distilled water but it wasnt enough. so i poured out some added more fog fluid and it started to flow. so im not quite sure the mix is now. as far as tweaking I mean i think I need to add some more surfacant to it . it doesnt want to snake at all like low levels usually do. but for now it at least is a visible lamp.

I did it. Details here:

However, I'm trying this on my Squiggle Planter and it's not working.

Thanks a lot, Erin!!

You're welcome. Good luck!

Get a hydrometer. Measure the liquid in the globe and do not add anything that does not match in density!
