Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Looks like Lavaworld put toghether a new lava video demonstrating the success the lamp has had but apparently not the failure it's had in our current decade. Video looks rather new since there are China lamps in the video.

God I love how he states that they sold more lamps in every year of the 90s then in the 60s, 70, and 80s combined. That decade wasn't that long ago I don't get why they just can't back to it.
Nice video. I really wish lamps would be made in america again. Luckily I have 3 American made lamps right in front of me, but the new ones are easier to obtain. lol
Lava World has ALWAYS had inaccuracies. Their version of the history, ever since I first contacted them in 1992, was as follows:

In 1965, Edward Craven Walker invented the lava lamp. No one knows what he was trying to build, but this is what came out. The original lamp was cylindrical. Named the 'Astrolight', it was spotted at a German trade fair by American businessmen Adolph Wertheimer and Hy Spector, who purchased the American manufacturing rights. Rechristened the Lava Lite, the lamp took off.

Further, due to trademark issues (ever noticed how all McDonalds burger names are subtitled "sandwich" in tiny letters, or how Disneyland is subtitled "resort" in the same way?) the name was changed to "Lava" brand motion lamp, to make clear the distinction as now there were other brand motion lamps - Peace brand motion lamp, Volcano brand motion lamp, Flo Oozy brand motion lamp, etc. But now, ALL mentions of "Lava Lite" have been changed.

It's just not the same when they say that "the Lava brand motion lamp was invented in 1965" or that "the Lava brand motion lamp" this or that - it just cheapens the image, whether or not the name change was necessary.

Edit: Just watched the video. An odd mix-up they gave, of facts, blurred bits, and important bits left out. I gotta get me a bottle for one of those glitter table lamps shown near the end... with the slow action? Very cool.
