Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Found oozinggoo.com when I was looking for ways to repair the Grande I picked up at CostCo a few years ago.  It's one of the Chinese made ones that has gone extremely cloudy and ceased to flow (going to try replacing the fluid one of these weekends).

It was here that I found out about really big Lava lamps.  I was bowled over by videos of the  Colossus lamps and really want to see if I could get one, I couldn't find them available anywhere so I wrote LavaLite.  I wanted to let this group know what I got this from Lava Lite today:

We have a special promo on the Colossus for serious buyers.   This will be the last time the Colossus will be seen.

Please see attached promo sheet with pricing included.

If you are interested please contact on my direct line at 630-496-6663.

Best regards,

Sadly these prices are outside of my discretionary funds, even though they include shipping.  I post it in hopes that someone here may be interested.

Jethro- to fade, just put it in bright sunlight, will fade it quite well

anybody have oily looking black stuff show up on their red lava? It looks like oil or something,,it is runny. LL wants a pic. I hope i am fast enough on the camera to aim, focus and get the pic.

mine is just shiny red lava, you may have some streaks of unblended tint in there.

that is a good thought,,Hope that is it! I turned the knob on it this morning,,,waiting on flow,,,,waiting,,,,waiting,,,

The pink/purple seem to flow perfect so far.

I'm considering one.  How is the flow?  How do you fade you lamps...change the water or use bleach?

Well I have 2 pink/purple globes now and 1 base so I think I might fade one and have a pink/clear.

I hope my colossus holds up for years to come! But with some of the problems Im hearing about Im getting concerned. We all love our colossi thats for sure! But I said it once and ill say it again they are china lamps and we are all quite aware of how china lamps perform. LONG LIVE THE COLOSSUS!

well,,, since the first 30hr perfect first run,,,,,,,,,,,,

Every 1-2 hours, it hovers about 1/3 up the globe. I turn it off for 15-20 minutes,,,then go back to 6 oclock on the dial to get perfect flow for the next 1-2 hours. If i turn it down to 5:30 ,,,it drops down and goes cold. I am beginning to think my dimmer switch sucks.

would it hurt to leave it on low heat and let it "simmer"  24/7 ?

I have mine at around 6 oclock 24/7 currently

does 6 oclock make yours flow?

yes, it does look like it's too hot at times but if i give it 30 or so min it goes back to normal it gets too cold ocasionally as well in the same spot

that is what mine is doing,,,i can't keep it adjusted so it will run constantly.
