Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Spencers now has their new batch of neon lamps. The first one I bought I returned before I even left the mall because it was cloudy, but the second one was only very slightly cloudy. The lamp does clear up when running fortunately and the flow is also very active. It may not be like the 90's lamps with lots of stretchy blobs, but I feel that with the amount of activity in these lamps it is forgivable. I plan on picking up a neon yellow and a blue/red tonight. I will post photos of them in the next few days.

Base and cap: 7/10
Glass            10/10
Clarity:            9/10
Flow:              8/10
Color:            10/10

Base and cap: I don't care for this style of base, so my rating is because of personal preferences.

Glass: Very few bubbles, no noticeable flaws.

Clarity: Very close to being crystal clear. I am actually not bothered by the slight cloudiness, but it is a flaw.

Flow: It is not American flow, but it is enjoyable to watch.

Color: I love the neon series colors.

I also really love the colors. Instead of adding another thread, I'll just add my thoughts here.

I think it's an improvement, for sure.

Mine are crystal clear. I'll report back if that changes. I'll also add the cap dates when I get home.

The bases are boring, but with pinholes, they'll look better. ;)

I have some schmutz on the glass (wax) on a few, but it's coming off.

More later.

Here are my pics:

I think they were making the bases the way are to make the neon color stand out more. Not a huge fan of yellow but I love that green. Hopefully we will see a neon watermellon (fingers crossed). I like the progress thats being made.

I'd love to see the Neon watermelon and blue be made in this size.

Here are my cap codes:

Green: 12121701 (December 17, 2012)

Yellow:  13010501 (January 5, 2013)

Purple: 12121201 (December 12, 2012)

Flow tonight is very blob-like and slow. I'm guessing these need more breaking in.

Just got a green today.  Not cloudy at all and it is flowing now.  It did have little wax smears on the sides of the globe but I fully expect those to clear.  First flow is big blobs with a little stretchiness.  The wax is translucent on this first run and the color is very vibrant.  Assuming the cap code includes the date this was made on December 31st.

New Year's Even lamp! I have wax smears on nearly all of mine and they are going away. If they don't, slowly rotate the globe when it's off, but still warm and run some of the wax around the bottom sides. Should help. :)

No worries on the smears, I'm positive that they will be gone soon.  Cap  code is:

K5112

121231A1

Good to see that the glass is better. I know Autumn knows what the globe glass has been like as of late. Many imperfections.

I really wish they would run the FULL neon color line in the 52 oz. A blue/clear and pink/clear would've been the first 2 I would've bought.

here is my yellow neon.  it's soo cool i brought it to work!

Purchased from Spencer's 12/8/12. Cap info: H5108; 12081502; B1

i've been running the lamp for 8 hours/day since that video and the flow is much more serpentine-like.

i'll have to pick some up soon then!

Looks good! I like the yellow more than I thought I would. Looks Neon before flow, but golden when flowing.

Hears my neon - we seam to only get the 16oz'ers in the UK, I would like to have a 52oz'er if they came over hear.

I think there is only the turquoise blue, yellow and watermelon / pink available hear

The cap says K2313 12.08.01 - i take it that is has been made on the 1/08/12 (that would make sense anyway)
