Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Successfully Filtered My Mediterranean Consort Globe

I'm pumped!

What used to be a cloudy, but flowing Mediterranean/Consort globe is now clear, AND it's flowing the same as before!

I wasn't going to filter it, but the cloudiness was really starting to get in the way of watching the lava flow.  I decided that if filtering screwed up the flow, I'd goo kit it yellow.  I'm happy to say, no goo kitting will be necessary.

I used the MSR Gravity Autoflow.  I can't praise it enough!

Finally, I did not touch the wax - just filtered the liquid.

Here are the before and after pictures.  While the before picture doesn't look too bad, believe me, the cloudiness had gotten worse after this picture was taken.

WOW, great job, Kirk.  I have to get one of those filters.  Your lamp looks gorgeous!!

P.S.  Love Keith's shark, but have no idea how he did that..LOL

Google search, copy picture, paste in Paint, add text box.  If file is too big then resize.  Save image.

Then select the image icon above in reply box (second from left) and choose file where you saved the image.

Awesome job Kirk! That looks great, though for its age, it didn't look horrible before.

Well done! :)

Thanks, Erin.  Believe it or not, the filtering actually improved the flow.  It had gotten so full of bubbles and after several hours it would start to overheat and gather at the top.  Not any more!  Nice columns that break eventually into balls, then back to columns again.  Much improved and I like it so much more now!  Too bad they all can't come out like this.  :>)

Keith - I love the shark!

Thanks, I thought a Mediterranean deserved some sea life. lol

No kidding! I don't know too many people who've had luck filtering Consort-sized bottles. So it's nice to see a success story! I think Autumn struggled with them and even tried a GooKit that didn't work out.

Awesome! I'm so happy for you!

I got lucky on this one.  I have it on again this morning - just love it!  Makes me want to find some more that need fixin'.  Thanks for all your encouragement!

There are plenty out there that need to be fixed! SAVE THEM ALL! :)
