Hmmm so maybe it has some collectible value to someone.

Speaking of gas pump, I just saw this "Route 66" one while searching on ebay:

Your New so i will tell your something about this site. Were not allowed yup list auctions from eBay on here until there closed studio that if a member is hiding on they don't have to worry about too much competition from others
To, so, and bidding lol damn phone

Huh?  Didn't understand after "not allowed to list auctions from ebay on here ...".  Didn't understand your 2nd post either.

Actually "not allowed" is not correct.  As a courtesy members refrain from posting ebay auctions so that there is not too much competition on desirable lamps.  But that does not mean that you CAN'T post, it is just frowned on my most members.  Also, you are not discouraged in any way from posting your own ebay auctions here.  Most active ebay sellers do so, including moderators.

What she was attempting to say is we tend not to provide links to active auctions as a common courtesy.  In the case of the particular lamp you linked I see absolutely no issue, but there are times when sellers incorrectly list their lamps.  I have found a Garfield Ceramic Icon on eBay while searching "Garfield light" (seller had it listed a nightlight without any mention of it being a lava lamp).  At the time I found it I may have been the only lava collector who even knew about the lamp - that needs to remain my little prize.  If someone had posted a link "Neato, look what I found" I would have been a little peeved.

No - I didn't get that Icon as I had to reveal its true identity to the buyer as she only listed the base.  The light bulb went off when I asked about the globe and cap.  She was quite appreciate and then proceeded to make bank.

Hmmm I'm not thoroughly sure of everything being said here.  But if "...you are not discouraged in any way from posting your own ebay auctions here" is true, that's all I need to know. I'll get the hang of it.  Question:  is it okay to say on here what my item on ebay sold for?

I do understand the point about not posting other auctions that might, like in the case you describe,  "out" a potential good score for someone who astutely knew the value of an item better than the seller.   Kind of like the old song "don't advertise your man" :) (or woman, to be fair)

My boyfriend sometimes deliberately mispells items in the search because sellers do mispell often, and he knows he might be the only bidder on a popular item and thus get the lowest price.

Yes, it's OK.  You will get the hang of this site pretty easily.  We are just people here from all walks of life who happen to like Lava Lamps.  Common courtesy goes a long way. ;)

Sorry my phone was screwing up pretty badly when i wrote that yes you can list auctions and post other auctions as long as there not Jems if you have a question just save the picture than ask if they think it outs the money or not i do that all the time but i also refrain from ousting open auctions from others because i know someone on here might be in the running to buy that lamp :) i know i would be mad if i was bidding on a super low furby and somebody posted it and all of a sudden it was being bid up by a crowd of people. Especially if it had no buyers before then

Thanks SG.   Jems?  As in gems?  As in rare/highly desirable?

Is there an area on this site where people tell why they like lava lamps?  I'm always interested to know how people will respond to any seemingly simple, or even complex question, rather than my assuming the answer.  I like details.  I like expressiveness.  If there's no area on the site, perhaps start one?

Afterthought:  Hay I'll just start a thread in the appropriate forum!
