Thats a nice find! it doesnt flow? If youve already ordered a gookit before and dont need the funnel and tools you can just order a jar of goo and bottle of surfactant for like 36$ shipped.

I just plugged it in. The add said it didnt flow anymore . LMAO they had some weird bulb in it . give me another 2 hours  and we will see whats happening lol .

it's very likely that it didn't flow due to the strange bulb.  these lamps need a 100w R20 bulb to flow correctly.  best of luck to you, and please post some pics of the flow once you get it working!

Hey Joanne, did the grande flow with the right bulb?

The Grande likely still flows, but you might not be able to see it based on how cloudy it is. You can drain all the liquid, put back in distilled and tinker with the formula a bit and you might have a working lamp. I'm guessing the wax is in OK shape.

Congratulations on the great find!  I agree with Erin-replacing the fluid is a good first step, and may be all you need to do.  That's what I did with the Grande I found.  I used water, epsom salts and kid's bubble solution for surfactant and it works great!

So plugged it in and it spiked then stopped . the wax is separated into 2 bunches . the stuff on the top is frothy , its really wierd , the bottom just sits there . the water is way over colored . so I let it cool and this morning i got the cap off. but haven't pulled the plug yet ( had to go to the ER , got a stupid spider bite :P ) So Im thinking of pouring out the liquid and heating the wax to see if that works . Then putting distilled water and going that route . Its a beautiful cranberry colored wax , Id like to keep it !

ER! Spider bite?  What kind?  U ok?

Note to mods...sorry off topic!

this happened to a 52oz lamp i had that sat for a really long time in a storage unit in texas (+100 degree F temps in the summer for 5 years or so).  the wax tends to separate when stored for a long period of time.  i read some threads that suggested opening the globe, pouring the liquid out in a pot, then heating the wax on the stove until it becomes liquid. let it cool and re-add the liquid.  then fire up the lamp and see if it works.  if not, the wax may be done, and so i don't know if adding new water would solve the problem.  this worked for my globe, but i ended up tinkering with the wax by adding too much dish soap and it ruined the wax.  oops!  it was fun though.  good luck!

OH  i was going to heat the wax alone and try to get it to all go back together . I read that thread , hope it works !

Not sure what kind :P didnt see the little bugger _ Sorry mods we will get back on subject now lol !

That will work. Then replace the liquid or refill with distilled and start tinkering!
