Anyone?   Also what do you think the best methodology for this should be?  Cycling, leave it off long term, or leave it run long term?

hey jeff - i think cycling will help it clear.  i've also cleared up a few globes (unexpectedly) by leaving them in a cool environment in the basement for a few weeks.  just thinking out loud here, but i think this works because cool water becomes more dense than the particles, so the particles sink.  good luck!

It's not too bad so try cycling it first
I see what your saying brad, hear will make the water expand but I don't think it changes it's denesty, may be wrong though

You guy's don't think it's too bad?  To me it seems horrible...I mean I can hardly see the lava....you mean there's been worse?

ignore what i said earlier about cold water being more dense so the particles sink.  that isn't right, but putting the globe in a cool environment does help it clear.

jeff - i agree that it's pretty bad.  maybe try cycling it for a while to see if it will clear.

I have tried puttin my globes in a cool environment to help clear, my grande for instance, and it went crystal clear. However, when I turned it on, the cloudiness just went right back into the liquid and made it just as cloudy as before. My grande is just as cloudy as this colossus.
So my question is, after you leave it in a cool place for awhile, how do you get the cloudy to stay out of the water without it mixing right back in?

Filter it!

This is a delicate science Jeff, every globe is different and some you win some you loose.

I cycle cloudy globes 3hrs on 3hrs off, you will know after a month or two if it will clear.

I think a 'Grande' would need 12 on 12 off !

Good luck  :)

Just bought this filter....should be ok as long as I don't use the carbon granules right?

Also, any tips on uncapping/recapping this thing?  Has anyone done it yet?  Main concerns are getting the cap off w/o cracking the neck...and then w/ recapping at what point to recap...so its not too hot and ends up sucking in the stopper when it cools...or too cold and ends up creating a geyser when it heats.

If it is made in China it will never clear with cycling. That's just how it is.

yep, would just be sure to remove the carbon cartridge as you stated.

many people cap it when it's cooling so it creates a suction against the plug and cap.  honestly i've never capped a colossus so someone else will have to help you.

That's how I capped my smaller globes as well.  I'm pretty sure I read on here somewhere that someone capped a Grande this way and had the stopper sucked in as it was cooling...which is my concern.  If a Grande did that I'm sure  Colossus is going to.  And if there's that big a pressure difference then capping it cold isn't going to work either...assuming its got to be done somewhere mid-cycle.
