Those tv shows always make the people look so glorious..........They don't show you the behind the scenes either.  I think the pitbull problem is everywhere Kira.  I adopted a pup from a shelter a year 1/2 ago.  She is awesome with the family, but hates people and other dogs besides the 4 she lives with.  Inbreeding I suppose because her mom is viscious.  Dad is sweet.  Husband and wife duo dropped off mom, dad and pups at the shelter.  Mom was so sick.  Her milk went bad so they had to take the pups away.  Sad.  But then these people pop back up out of nowhere and want the puppies back.  Probably to sell into the fight ring.  Another problem down here.  People need to stop backyard breeding, but that is a rant for another thread.  Now i'm totally off topic.....Interesting how close you are though!!!

ya..her place is right a few blocks from my shop. and a mile from my house .. have to pass it to get to my shop.. she is in the upper 9th ward.. right on the industrial canal..that feeds off the Mississippi River... she is never around like the show shows ya.. been going in there since before they opened to pubic.. .. and never seen her yet..We have a huge problem with our pit bull community.. everybody wants a puppy... well they grow up.. and so sad are often thrown on sides of roads.. chained.. starved.. beat.. never given proper veterinary care..after hurricane Katrina we took in all strays human and animal..just about every dog we found was pit or pit mixed.. some mean as hell due to fear and lack of human acclimation.. some never let me pet em without chance of getting attacked to had to restrain their mouths.. some so infested.. caked in toxic paste and debris.. some mange so bad i thought i would die.. ticks.. ring worm and some had sores that looked like boils..  we took care of each until finding it a suitable forever home.. a couple we found their homes..

while Hollywood invaded my Orleans.. I was fortunate to make friends with set designers.. so my lamps were commissioned for many movies..  sitcoms.. mini series... about all I or anyone outside of actual production crew were not  allowed to take photos as contracted to privacy .

.This particular documentary was one I was really thrilled about.. It is a backstreet cultural evening with the Treme Culture.. music.. history.. dance.. drum circles.. singers and poets and a voodoo ritual. All people involved  I have known done many local events with and lived by for decades... So this was taped in building my store is in. . I always have lamps going in my shop.. guy came in and invited me and my lamps to help set the backdrop.... as the documentary went from stage off to side of venue to my amazing " chill" room. My lamps. rugs.. great swatches of material from all over.. my girlfriends brought in furniture.. pillows.. artwork.. and ya.. We made it magical..We were allowed full access photos all we wanted and ya.. got paid ... hoping my shop gets in the credits.. if not cool...
