Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi friends,
Just found Oozing a couple days ago and figured this is the place to come to for questions.

I'm in the process of trying to fix a lamp that got knocked over and became very foggy. Read some How-to's and watch some videos on the fix.
Now I'm kind of stuck not sure if I've done something wrong or I just need to keep going with the salt.
I flushed out the foggy water replaced it with distilled water, added a couple drops of dish soap and started adding salt water. As of right now I have added about a half a cup of salt water but the wax is just sitting on the bottom not moving. So right now I don't know if I should just keep adding salt or flush it out and start over.
Can the wax get damaged by the shake up? It was working fine until then.
Also, I used Sea Salt. 100% natural, no additives. Could/would that make a difference?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Oh, I think the lamp is a Lavalites.

You definitely want to use kosher salt, or rock salt...non iodized salt, or the water will be a different kind of cloudy.

Did just running your lamp for a couple of months not clear it? If you have already tried that, then I would say keep adding a little bit of salt water at a time, until you get the specific gravity normalized. If you add undissolved salt to the water, then you can damage the wax, or if you add too much salt water. Just add a little at a time, and you should be okay.

Salt, Salt, Salt...
Had to add a lot more salt than I imagined was needed.
All most there.
