Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

HI EVERYBODY.....NEWBE HERE!!!

MY NAME IS BRENT....I LIVE IN SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN

I INHERITED MY GREAT GRANDMOTHERS LAVA LAMP....IT HAS BEEN A PRIZED POSSESSION OF MINE FOR MANY YEARS!!!!  IT HAS TO BE AT LEAST 50 YRS OLD!!!!  I SET IT ON MY GUITAR AMPLIFIER AMD ADMIRE IT AS I PLAY.

IM VERY WORRIED I MIGHT HAVE RUINED IT TODAY.....I PUT A NEW BULB IN IT TODAY......A FROSTED 60 W BULB.    IT DIDNT BUBBLE AFTER 2 HOURS.   I TURNED IT OFF.   I PICKED UP THE GLOBE, AND NOW ALL THE RED STUFF INSIDE LOOKS ALL CHUNKY AND IS FLOATING TO THE TOP!!!!

DID I RUIN THIS LAVA LAMP????

CAN IT BE SAVED????

THANKS!!!

BRENT

It's still cloudy. No flow. I'm so mad at myself

Specific gravity is changed or the bulb not hot enough, or spring is oxidized

'If you want, PM me, send it over and I'll fix it during holiday break

Sometimes the fluid is toast and has to be replaced, it happens. The wax may be fine......does it flow? Also the fluid my just need a month or two of cycling.
It did flow some.

ITS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A ROOKIE TRIES TO FIX SOWTHING HE HAS NO BUSINESS DOING IT.....LOL

What happened, did you put it back together and it didn't flow or did something go wrong.

its toast

All of us were rookies at some point. Just have fun with it after all it is just a Lava Lamp and a hobby. Try cycling and then if it fails try to save the wax and make new fluid.
