Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi everyone, I found this site trying to find other people that love lava lamps as much as I do (which is hard) I had lava lamps when I was younger (90's style) and just got into them again when I found an old midnight series on fb market place for $10 :) It all went down hill from there!

After trying to obtain new lamps I found myself disappointed in the quality of the "china" lamps, before I would purchase I would open the boxes up (not the older tube style boxes) and make sure the lamp was clear! 80% of all the lamps I wanted to purchase were cloudy. I was a little confused by this at first..I was told "Run the lamp for 8 hours turn off run again, yada yada" it never worked...I sold off a few cloudy ones I got stuck with and started to contact the company directly about the issue. They sent me a few free replacement crystal clear lamps which got me into the mood to start collecting them knowing it was really a hit or miss!

I currently have about 10-11 lamps, most are new (replacements) I started out hating the new colormax lamps but now I'm in love with them..(some) I like the idea but enjoy the original colored liquid and colored wax combinations the best but I'm getting more and more colormax versions that I enjoy.

I browse online and local craigslist for lamps sometimes, but thats always a hit or miss too with lamps being cloudy and murky...shipping is terrible for these lamps as well! LOL The next thing I'd like to learn to do is refill these lamps, but still learning about the process...goo kits etc. I emptied an old 11.5 I found online that was junk and put LED lights inside of it that has a remote that I take on camping trips..lol

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and can't wait to meet you and see your lamps and perhaps share mine!

Stay oozy!

The first 20 is easy, the next 20 can present display/storage problems, it goes downhill from there! (in a good way, lol)

Welcome aboard, Junebug!

Haha Thanks! So far I just rotate them every so often, but would nice to have them all displayed at once but that is not possible right now lol

Welcome to oozing goo. Watch out for the lava bug lol.

You might want to try LETGO as well, most of my U.S. production finds have been from there and prices are always reasonable and most times negotiable.

I agree with your statement, when I like something, I can never just have one :)

Oh more advise, don't allow a hobby to become a chore, that way you will keep your collection manageable.
