Yeah. The new colors are fun, but I'm not sure how excited I can be about a collaboration that results in little more than some prominent logo placement right on the top of the bottles.

I'd much rather have seen Mathmos etch a design in the style of the Pretty Green logo across the top of the globe (or maybe the base and cap) and leave the logo for some more subtle placement, maybe on the back of the base. As it stands, if I bought one of these, I feel like I'd just be paying to place a Pretty Green advertisement in my living room. (Nothing against anyone who does buy one.)

The weird thing is, it looks like they put way more effort into the box itself. That's nice, but I didn't think people bought lava lamps to display the box.

It really sucks that neither company really wants to think "outside the base" anymore. I mean, I get it. Bottom lines, knowing the target demographic, etc... though at this point, I'd settle for lava to go back to regular non painted globes and shrink-wrapped bases. This color max nonsense has definitely overstayed its welcome.

Thought they might at least have had a fully paisley-print patterned base, vase or something, rather than a tiny motif

Weak sauce, man.

I got an email about these from Mathmos. They have really nice colors, but a bit more than etching the bottle would be needed for me, that technique is more along the lines of what Lava Lite is doing these days. I personally have never really gone for lamps where the glass is labeled or printed on as it blocks the view of the flow. Still these don't have a lot of etching and it is at least at the top....so the effort is appreciated.

I am really hoping that Mathmos will do a limited run of the all glass Astro they showed off two years ago......amazing.

not seen pink and orange wax since the late 90s, used to get a funny yellowy glow towards the bottom of the bottle when it was on, bit like the pink glitter lamps, would be nice to see that colour again

Oh well, we dared to dream..

(on the plus side, pink/orange could be quite nice)

Okay, pink liquid with blue lava is a nice combo. But definitely not a sensation. Pink liq with orange lava is even duller, and the logo is horrifying.

Résumé: All bark but no bite...

A missed opportunity to say the least.

Just seems a rather cynical ploy to do as little as they could get away with to get fans of Pretty Green to part with their cash.

Oh man, can you imagine if Mathmos did a Psychedelic Haze style lamp? I'd be swimming across the pond for that!

the pink looks different to the pink back in the 90s like pink / white & pink orange, i hope that colour will be avalible for general bottles

i thought it didnt seem the vibrant pink :-(  but totaly agree need more yellow wax again

Okay so I got mine on a Friday in the post. I have to say the base is flawless, the glass of the bottle is in perfect condition, hardly any dots of light, no scars, the bottle sits straight and it looks amazing.

Fire it up and wait, the flow on these is really really poor, it just does a blob up and blob down. The quality of Mathmos has really gone down the toilet lately. I don't think I will buy anything from them again. Everytime I do, I just get burnt and would rather stick to older lamps. Since they went halogen, the formula they are using is pure rubbish.

I am tempted to do a youtube video of an old 1990s lamp and the new junk and show them the difference. Although I don't think they'd care much.

Tried using different bulbs and nothing makes any change, thought it was getting too much heat or too little. There is something wrong with these lamps, they don't snake up and down like they used to, they break into blobs so fast.
