Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

"Custom" Grande from Lava Lite - Full Review (in progress)

Date purchased: September 18

Date received: September 20 (via FedEx Ground; I'm 3 hrs from Chicago, where it shipped)

Price paid: $80 total (used coupon code retail20 for 20% off)

Cap code: 17062801 (June 28, 2017)

First run: September 20 @ 6pm.

Color choice: yellow/red globe with gold base and cap

NO dimmer on base

Initial impressions: globe is clear, wax looks good. Warming up now. NO dents or dings on base/cap. Glass seems good. Box arrived with the correct side up in 90 degree weather, so I'm happy it wasn't cloudy or anything.

More to come...

The liquid is clear, it just doesn't photograph that way. When running, the liquid does go past the cap.

The liquid doesn't look very clear in the photo and the level doesn't reach past the cap? I realize the level will raise when in use but personally, I wouldn't want a lamp with liquid that doesn't reach the cap when not in use.
At least Mathmos fill their lamps past the cap, it's more aesthetically pleasing imho. Is that what Lava Lite do with all their lamps? Anything to save a few $ on manufacturing I guess, personally, I'd have sent it back.

Mine just came today! I unpacked it and was pleasantly surprised to find the base and cap undamaged. The master fluid was clear but there was some residue on the lower end of the globe close to the wax. Once it starts flowing ill post some pictures of mine.

I watched the video, flow looks pretty good, at least to me. I know it can be hard to get accurate colors in videos as all my videos posted I always say colors are more vivid in person.

Enjoy it, I hope to pull the trigger on the glitter version shortly :) Just waiting for the itch to get strong enough, I just hope the 20% coupon code will still work.

Go ahead and put it in your cart and see if it will save it until you check out. Mine's still there three days later.

Oh thats a good idea, however, there is no guarantee the code will work once you click "check out" or whatever it says lol

Got mine today! The finish on the base is excellent! The Glass is perfect and the liquid is clear! Gonna fire it up tomorrow morning! However the yellow liquid is much more vivid in person then in the picture. So far I'm very happy with the lamp!!!

Very cool, can't wait to see photos and video.

Tim,

Your new Grande looks good!

Now I can't decide if I should get a black or gold base with mine - lol

You need to keep that lamp away from the sunlight unless you want the yellow liquid to fade to clear over time ;)

i cant decide either if I want black or gold. they both go great with this color combo!

That side of the house doesn't get any sun but I will close the curtain anyway.

I like the gold base as well but the black with this color combo really reminded me of a  #02 Midnight!!

I just turned the lamp on now! I will post some flow pics later!

Pulled the trigger on mine today because of your pictures. I really liked that the black wasn't matte. The new promocode was fallsave for 20% off. Great because I needed some more 100 watt bulbs and shipping is a mint through them for whatever reason, and they have free shipping over 50 bucks.
